LOSS OF A FRIEND…

Earlier this year I suffered a pain that was a new journey for me, someone that I had valued as making impact on my life and spent many years with passed away suddenly. We travelled the world together, shared many personal and professional journeys. I truly loved him for himself and I hope he knew this. Upon his death we had not been speaking because of a falling out over emotional differences. Sometimes along our life’s journey we must learn self-protection, preservation, and this is what I did. I was trying to navigate uncharted territories after loosing the life I thought was mine and I couldn’t be around this friend.  When I heard of his passing the tears flowed and I started expressing all those unheard words, feelings and pain. The first night I started a one-week ritual of lighting white candles and pouring two glasses of champagne, or favorite drink of choice together. I toasted him and started speaking with him about many things we enjoyed together and shared with him the new crystal and silver glasses that held the champagne, because like me, I knew he would admire the beauty of the glasses. The laugher came, the tears flowed, the heart skipped beats but my soul felt elated that through this simple action we had a connection that will continue to impact my life and I know he knows.   Image: Maryana Table
